He could still technically be arrested for a form of vandalizing that the museum could sue for. Regardless if it’s a forgery or not.

The name of the show is Scorpion (2014)...for anyone wondering. 🙃

The only logical actually SENSIBLE reason they gave as to why it was a fake was the brushstrokes counted but other then that the rest of the reason were so like 😭😭😭😭

This is how redditors imagine scenarios going on in their heads

I absolutely despise everyone in this scene

When you try to make your main characters seem intelligent but not pretentious and fail.

Paintings are very often reframed.
This is why one of the methods of non destructive authentication is to know what's actually painted underneath the frame edges as those spots are not visible except during reframing.

He could explain it without destroying it tho

Why is this sequence so dramatic, and why does anyone think that just because the painting is fake that gives them the right to go an destroy it, better yet who wrote these awfully acted characters 😅

FBI Art Crimes? No way that’s an actual division 💀

This almost tops the "two people using one keyboard to stop a hacker" bit from NCIS as the dumbest thing written.

I wish there was a reveal at the end where the painting was, in fact, authentic. Then we hear the classic womp womp sound effect.

Awww the classic "i'm smarter than everyone so i am gonna be a smug jackass eventhough the writers are so ignorant to the subject that i am supposed to be an expert on that i just come accross as an pompous prick" trope.

Show doesn’t know that paintings are restored from time to time and they replace frames nails and even sometimes paint over bad blemishes

"We just analysed the paint, and carbon dated the frame
...WHAT💀
From around the corner, you were able to analyse the paint, which would take days.
Carbon dated the frame that would not give you nearly enough of an accurate age to deterkin fakeness 😭 without even touching or sampleing it?
They are litterly just tossing out random words💀💀💀

Nails in a frame can be replaced at any time. Facial repulsion markers? Someone cut the cheese. Those two can jog on with their smugness.

Artists don't paint in the frames, it is the Collector that decides to frame it, and many Masterpieces have been reframed multiple times during their lifetime.

If the frame is within 4 years of the original, it is probably the first frame it was mounted in.

I would need someone to prove to me that you can count every single brushstroke, without needing serious imaging equipment.

Also, good forgeries, especially older ones, can often go for more than the original.

Add to that, many famous painters started off by reproducing famous works for practice, they weren't "forgeries" until someone tried to pass them off as the original.

And it is not even worth difgnifying the "she instinctively knew, and we read her" BS.

But ulttimately, fake or not, they just destroyed private property.

Regardless if its a fake or not, maybe run that by the museum owners/employees before damaging it, thats just common sense, it may be dumb but he could sue for "mental distress", like if you see something wrong in somewhere, you dont destroy it only to then explain yourself, let someone know, for how smart these people are trying to be, that is unbelievably stupid.

☝️🤓 “it’s a fake there’s several reasons why we know this”
☝️🤓 “she displayed the same repulsion markers our sense of smell gives us to rotting meat”
☝️🤓 “then I did a quick count of the brush strokes, there’s 1, 387. ☝️🤓 which is 48 less than the original”
☝️🤓 “and the type of nails weren’t even manufactured until 4 years after the painting was supposedly made”
Sounds like a board room of redditors made this move god damn. The director definitely didn’t get bullied enough in high school

"Thank you for repeating exact what I said!🙄" Yeah, like your reasoning was more believable than ACTUAL GOVERNMENT AGENTS WALKING THROUGH THE FUCKING DOOR.
