US President Donald Trump has commuted the prison sentence of his longtime friend and former aide Roger Stone. Stone has just appeared with supporters to celebrate the President's decision. He was due to begin his 40-month prison term on Tuesday after being convicted of lying to Congress and witness tampering during the Mueller investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential race.

You made an error by saying pardon. He commuted his sentence. There is a difference and are not interchangeable. Chelsea Mannings sentence was commuted by Obama after serving several years.
