Показать описание
We use terms like Couple, Hardtop, Sedan and Roadster to describe different styles of car, but many times the definitions of these styles are misused or misunderstood.
Here's a rundown of the most common body styles we come across when dealing in the world of classic cars and how to identify each type.
We focus on 60s and 70s cars here, but the terms and types are mostly universal and apply to cars from 1900 till today.

Just when you think you won’t learn anything else for the day, UT comes packing a fat dose of automotive knowledge. Amazing stuff.

I knew some of this- turns out I knew little, but now I know more. These are the things I watch you for; you talk about things it seems others don't.

You and Steve are IT, man! Side note - so many people, manufacturers included, misuse the term roadster. Thank you, Uncle Tony.

In Lisbon Portugal there is a carriage museum where they have royal carriages dating back to the 11th century. It was fascinating to see the progressive improvements in suspension and steering and the names of the coaches including brougham, phaeton and sedan.

Just watching UT I fulfill my 'learn something new every day' objective. If I retain 20% of this, I'll be happy. The amazing part is he does these off the cuff with out stumbling around, hunting for words or to keep things organized and flowing.

So crazy I did a TikTok video last week on this subject last week I was mainly focusing on the 71-72 ford full-size cars because I had one of every style except for a 2 door and a wagon.

Tony, If you do a little research you'll find that many words and terms used to describe the Moden Car had their beginnings in the Wagon industry. For example, Drive Shaft was a Wagon Part Long before the Automobile was every invented or created. Hub's Wheels, Brakes, Tailgate, all were used on Wagons first. The Acremen Steering equations you did a segment on all began with Wagons. Fenders you might think were from wagons but actually came from Ships. Anyhow the List is long and I'm not going to write 10 pages on it.

Great video Tony. As an owner of a Sport Sedan, I get to (try to) explain stuff like this fairly often! This helps me shorten the story by about a year.
