The controversy surrounding the Tirupati Laddu Prasadam has intensified following remarks from Shamala Rao, the Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). Rao emphasized the importance of maintaining the quality of the sacred laddu, traditionally offered to Lord Venkateswara Swamy. Upon taking office, she discovered concerns raised by the Chief Minister regarding the quality of the ghee used in the prasadam. Rao stated, "Any deviation in quality will cause 'apavithram,' compromising the sanctity of the temple."

Recognizing the lack of facilities to test ghee for adulteration, she initiated measures to ensure the use of pure cow milk ghee. However, challenges arose with tender rates being unviable, making it difficult to source quality ingredients at reasonable prices. To uphold standards, Rao warned suppliers they would be blacklisted if their ghee failed lab tests. Subsequently, all samples were sent to a reputable government-controlled lab, yielding alarming results. This ongoing investigation highlights the TTD's commitment to restoring the integrity of this revered prasadam and ensuring that devotees receive offerings that meet the highest standards of purity.

If it were made from butter, it would contain butyric acid fat, which is not present. Instead of this fat, they have added lauric acid, which is very cheap in the market and is a byproduct of coconut oil. To give a slight yellow color, palmitic acid has been mixed, as analyzed by experts. This palmitic acid fat is either prepared from the stomachs of animals (buffalo, cow, pig) or from palm oil. If it is truly from palm oil, then God save us. If it is palmitic acid fat derived from animal stomachs, the blame lies entirely with the TTD administrators and the supplying company. One thing is certain – the laddu we ate was not made with dairy butter. Analysts suggest it was made with various types of fats. Now the question remains whether the palmitic acid fat was sourced from animals or from palm oil.

I don't get how the hell are they running such money u could set up a lab with great food technology engineers who could test could have directly contact farmers for pure milk by paying them good prices and produce their own ghee without depending on

Y people are blaming government and starting religious conflicts with past CM .If even past cm instigated to uselow quality what the hell religious hindu cooks are doing .The cooks are seen in dhotis and at some point the hindu cooks should have known the quality.Note even if elected CM is Christian.Posts for tirumala devsthanam considered under GROUP-4 which accepts only HINDUS.The oil and ghee available in market also should be questioned at this point as the ghee and oil used by them is bought in market.
