I am one of the people who don't like to use fingernails when playing. I find them to make a much a brighter sound, and I prefer a very mellow vibe.

I didn't really know what fingerstyle was and I now I realize one my song intros is fingerstyle. Now I'm just struggling to relearn it by playing the high E string with my ring finger instead of my middle finger, I'm not used to that technique. I can't wait to learn more techniques, thanks for this video!

I was in a car crash. Brain injured, vertically sheared pelvis (broke hip and a piece went upward), broken ribs, punctured lung (collapsed). This is the just of it, it happened 2months short of 1 year ago. It was very difficult touching the G again. I finally learned to play the one style that eluded me (Left handed). Ive done well with fingerstyle. Its like my dormant subconscious plays to me, unnatural sound hurts my head. I can guide the playing but its easier to let it flow. I love it.

If you (like me) have trouble with the little finger anchor techique you can try resting your palm/wrist on the bridge like John Fahey does.
