Toyota RAV4 (2019-2025): Rear/Tail Light Assembly Removal (Turn Signal Bulb Replacement).

In this video, we will show how to remove the tail light assembly in the 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 Toyota RAV4. After removing it you can either change the turn signal bulb or upgrade it with an LED bulb instead.

I’ve had really good luck with assistance to not damage scars by using those white nylon tie straps that come on a lot of freight. I feed them behind the tail light where the pinch points are used to pull. I’ve never damaged paint or anything with them. Thank you for showing people of legitimate review on how hard they are to pop out instead of the people that have done it 14 times and it just pulls right out. Great video.

To replace whole assy I needed a security Torx to remove 2 of bulbs. Harbor freight has a set of Torx bits cheap that include those.

HELP! I backed into a pole and cracked the passenger side outer tail light assembly . I bought an aftermarket replacement which looked fine but two problems . 1- I can't get the bulb assy out of the old housing because toyota uses some goofy screws to keep them from falling out (star shaped with a nipple in the middle)
. 2- The connector for the entire unit (beyond the rubber seal) is so far up I can't disconnect it to connect the new one.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated .

My next project I'm thinking will be installing an after market power liftgate. They did sell it already.. Only thing haven't found a really good video on how to install it. Or maybe another option is to upgrade the head unit with Android Auto. After all haven't from Toyota on whether they will or not retrofit the 2019 RAV4s with Android Auto.. Too bad. In Europe they will do it for a fee though.

From the comments someone mentioned that the brake lights can't be replaced, the entire housing needs to be replaced instead. How much would that cost?

Do you know how to remove the tail lights connected to the cargo door? Not sure how to remove the exterior panel above the logo that is in the way.

It's a shame now that a lot of taillight assemblies have some sort of LED unit in there, as it will be an expensive part to replace if the lens got broken.
As compared to the older models of any vehicle, untwist all the bulb units and voila! A cheaper repair to just replace the lens.
