I don’t care how hard life gets I’m not going to sleep in a hot truck

Say No To Cheap Freight. I pull for Landstar and in the past 3 weeks I haven’t pull anything for under $3 a mile. And now I’m sitting in Wichita, KS doing a 34 hour restart. And I pull a dry van. STOP HAULING CHEAP FREIGHT.

I'm a lease operator for a trucking company in Nebraska and we have stopped idling to save fuel as well.

I’m a company driver, and there’s no way I’m going to roast, or freeze to save my company money while they offer me a measly $0.01 “bonus” when they refuse to add APU’s which use a fraction of the fuel overnight that idling does.
They say they don’t have the trucks long enough, however you can move the APU’s to new trucks or sell them with the APU.
I’ve checked the ROI and it would save the company millions. No idea why they are anti-APU, but I’m not going to suffer for it. Forget that mess.

I'm with Landstar and I also run platform freight. I run RGN, and I don't shut down my truck in hot weather.
If I'm not well rested, I'm not at my best on the road. I run my AC for safety. To each their own, but I'll stay cool while resting.

I have a generator and window ac . I stay cool and comfortable with no idling. I'm a car hauler and no idling saves me .5 mpg which increases my fuel mileage by 10% . That's huge money in a years time.

The best thing I did was do my first two years OTR with no accidents and tickets then chased a great local opportunity. It takes a lot of sacrifice to do OTR for many years and I respect those who do it but if you have a family, friends and hobbies look into going local and keep doing what you love. Don’t listen to those who say local is more work, there are a lot of local opportunities that you won’t touch freight or bump 20 docks a day that’s a common misconception. OTR at most companies mare constructed to always screw the driver off and it is not worth your mental or physical health. Take care of yourself!!

Houston has more people with a CDL, than any other city. Welcome to TX brother.

It's a shame that a hard working individual has to pretty much act like a homeless individual and sleep in the elements to survive. So let's get this working just to eat... and pay taxes.

Hot or cold, I try to idle as little as possible. What this actually looks like for me is idling for one hour, down for three hours. When I go sleep, the truck is off and I got fans going. As long as I don't wake up hot, I'm good

I pull for LANDSTAR I don't make loads for less than 3.00 per mile! 😊 I sleep with A/C like a baby whole night!
SAY NOT TO CHEAP FREIGHT! 🔥

Drivers don't have the courage to stand up so let them enjoy what they get at this point

I was just out that way… ran the ole APU and stayed cool sipping that fuel.

I use to drive otr when paper logs were still being used, could run faster than 68mph and better trained drivers. You didn't see tinted windows, multiple colored lights, left foot sticking out the window (Yes I saw a driver with his foot out the window while driving), using cell phones while driving, taking miles and miles to pass. cutting people off more and more. A lot of drivers these days have no respect for the job, the equipment, other people on the road or the rules of the road. While I don't drive otr anymore, I still drive a van to make deliveries and I see it every time I'm out there.

Stay out of California, high fuel cost , 55 mph, heavy traffic, bad dot, no parking, big mountains and not sure bit no idling

Sitting in a truck without the AC on is just dumb. Cost about $250 for a window unit and about $400 for a generator. So for under $700, you can be comfortable. And it’ll pay itself off in under a month. Think smarter people.
