Thanks a lot for having taken the time to make this video! I was convinced my new XT rear derailleur had been bent during transport.

I’ve had my bike for a week and thought I already destroyed it lol. Thank god I found this video before inadvertently bending my derailleur straight when it shouldn’t be! Thank you!!!!

Good thing you mentioned. If I had one of those and saw the bend, I probably would have grabed a vice grip and proceed to ""correct"" the bend.

Well, seems I should have not tried to straighten mine. 😂 Thanks for the video. At least I know it was supposed to be that way now.

Thank you! I just noticed that the SLX 12 speed rear derailleur that came on my new bike is bent exactly like this XTR. I just finished photographing it and was about to ask around some forums etc when I found this video. You saved me some potential headaches, so thanks again.

Holly crap I had a heart attack when I opened the box and saw this. My bike build has been stressful enough!

wish i watched this before buying replacement plates/cage. I had SLX that was shifting bad and noticed the bent cage, thought it was the culprit. Turned out the B-Axle was bent. Just went for a new Deore M6100, didnt notice much improvement from SLX. Works well with my Sunrace cassette.

Looks like your chain is a bit too long for a hard tail.

So what issue does this bend exactly solve?
When pedaling the chain feeds from the top on the chainring. What is the point in bending the returning chain on the down side? Chain drop when backpedaling also occurs on the top side. And a chain guide bracket would also be mounted on the top side. None of these issues are in any way solved with a bend down chainline/deraileur.
