De Tres Esplets is a fig from Monserrat Pons' collection in Spain. He has hundreds of varieties. This one is known for earliness and producing 3 crops. Here's what he has to say:

De Tres Esplets: The fig tree is located in Mut Nou and the mother fig tree is planted in Palmer, Campos, Pere Ginard, great connoisseur of this atypical variety by the number of crops, one of figs, another of figs and a third of late figs. The tree reaches a rather reduced development, with elongated and regular branches forming a rounded, fairly clear crown of branches and foliage. It has a very high yield per tree, and a very long harvest period. The brevas ripen very early, around June 5, they are spherical, with a strong purple color, almost without cracks and with a sweet flavor, the tastiest of the harvests, especially at the end of ripening, the figs of the second harvest , are pyriform, blacker than epidermis, less sweet tasting and mature by August 2, the third crop, scarce and with a more bland taste, matures on October 2. The figs and the figs have very fine and thin epidermis, pulp of pink color, with a large quantity of achenes, mediums. They are very soft consistency, and sometimes have a drop of honey in the ostiolo. They have a high percentage of fruits paired, and few abnormal formations. They have an easy abscission of the peduncle and very little ease of peeling, the skin breaks. They are very sensitive to rain, transport and moderately susceptible to detachment, and quite resistant to the opening of the ostiolus.

Very nice, I've learned that most of these varieties you share with us are not readily available to most of us. All we can do is watch and drool!

Spanish figs are probably the reason I'm so into fig now, My mother beeing from Seville Spain said they grow wild and be as big as her hands.

So, how does this compare to Italian 258 which you said in another video was your favorite overall? I can imagine it is hard to pick just one favorite.

Do you have an Ischia fig tree? If you do does it produce a lot? I got one last year but I am not getting any figs this year. Last year there were some but they didn't have enough time to get ripe.
