Beautiful. They're never gonna give us the IMAX version. I'm loving this open matte version even though the sides are cropped out which wouldn't mean much since I'll be able to full my tv screen

They really should've released Infinity War and Endgame in the original IMAX resolution on the blu ray release but noooo Disney thinks widescreen is better. Open Matte isn't even IMAX resolution I mean we got robbed twice

That isn't IMAX open-matte. That is a cropped Open Matte for home release in certain countries. It has some more on the top and bottom, but has a lot cut off the sides. Proper IMAX open matte would be a tall video with black bars on the sides cos it doesn't completely fill a widescreen TV. There's a Dunkirk IMAX comparison video that compares the two, it's really good.

The next best thing is to fill the TV screen completely by filling the top and bottom without cropping the sides. Blu-rays for Interstellar, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, and Avatar do this perfectly. Some 3D blu-rays have exclusive IMAX footage like Titanic, Marvel Studios IMAX format movies (except Infinity War and Endgame), Marvel Studio releases have a shifting black bar on the left-hand side which moves shot-to-shot, so it doesn't completely fill the screen.

Some IMAX movies like The Force Awakens and Batman v Superman have been released on services like HBO to completely fill the screen without side-cropping. Luckily, I have been able to download these from certain websites because studios refuse to release them to the public for purchase.
