Two empty nesters who fell in love with their property's large, private lot are considering downsizing. She wants David to find them a townhouse closer to her work downtown, but he needs Hilary's help to prove their current home can be a private oasis.

When a house no longer feels like home, homeowners are left with a big financial and emotional question: renovate or sell it? Love It or List It helps fed-up homeowners decide. In each hour-long episode Realtor David Visentin and designer Hilary Farr compete for the homeowners' final decision to stay or go. David's insider perspective on the real estate market helps target listings to prospective buyers, but Hilary is determined to show homeowners that, within their budget, she can transform their worn-out house into a castle they can love. If the owners decide to list it, Hilary's hard work adds to the home's resale value. It's a tough decision either way. Which choice would you make?

Poor Hillary. Not the easiest clients " yes I want an open concept, no dont knock down the walls " Crazy.

“I want to downsize”
“The house needs at least 3 bedrooms”

“I want an open floor plan”
“This is TOO open. We wanted it SLIGHTLY open.”

I’d slap them both.

Well, I have to say is the ones who buy their house are getting a real gem! Hillary did an absolutely awesome awesome job.

No wonder the son left? What a headache woman. I want everything without changing anything. They're going to regret leaving that beautiful property, once they know what its like to have neighbours after 26 years of living in a peaceful and stunning woodland . I doubt she's far off retirement. Hillary did an amazing job, I definitely would have stayed there for my moving into retirement.

The retired gentleman didn't want to walk up the driveway. But, apparently, walking up and down flights of stairs daily is OK. 🤔

Hilary is the BEST designer. Either way, homeowners are lucky to be able to work with her. 😍

They are going to regret choosing a house with a lot of climbing. My parent's house is a double story, and my mother always avoids going upstairs.

Replacing all the dated furniture would go a long way towards updating the place, without having to swing a single hammer. Did Diane realize she can approach the dishwasher from the other side to unload it? DUH! In fact, the redesign didn't get rid of that problem.
I know the scriptwriters make these complaints up for the show, but why are they always making the woman look like a complainer. If they lived in the house for 26 years WITH the bathroom carpet, nothing stopped them from tearing it out and putting down tile and throw rugs. Sheesh.
In the end, Hillary couldn't change the fact that their home was so far from Diane's work.

Good heavens, they want more open but don't want to take down walls? I can't believe they are going to list it!

What worries me is all the stairs. I only have a 2 story house (not 3, like the townhome they liked) and when you pass 60 it's harder to go up and down all those stairs. This may not be their last place.

If you not take down any wall and not change any structure, it basicly paint and decoration. For me it not worth, I can do it my self.

The owner like "I want open concept main floor" and the next second they like "This is too open" "I dont want to taking down that wall" . It so 😅 to have guest like that

i'll tell you right now david won cause it was closer to her work but in terms of the interior, Hilary has outdone herself once again. Way better than the other place David showed them.

Well good to see a loving couple. She compromised for him staying in a dated house 60 mins away from her job. He compromised for her walking up all those stairs so she could walk to work. I loved the changes but I understand not having a bathtub is a no for me and being able to walk to work is awesome. When she retires I'd be surprised if they don't move again.

Wow Hillary you did a beautiful job on this lovely home.OMG! they said LIST IT!
I would not LEAVE the place. Its BEAUTIFUL I love it! I have a feeling this couple
will regret it. It would have been nice the lady let Hillary take the walls down to
open it up a little bit its nice to have a flow through...

I love how Hillary looks at the clients like she’s about to poison them.

How can you have an open floor plan if you're not willing to take down walls? I'm befuddled. 🙄
