That intro felt a bit off when I first saw it. Now it makes complete sense. I respect the studio wanting to call back to an older anime but doing so while also adapting someone else's work is a bit awkward. Would have loved it f they did it in an original series... but original series are harder and harder to come by so I can't be upset either.
