Independent journalist and author Antony Loewenstein says Jewish people around the world will “not be safer” at the end of Israel’s war in the Middle East.

Tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate as Israel has vowed significant retaliation to Iran’s missile attacks.

“Let’s not forget there’s been thousands of Lebanese civilians who have been killed in this process,” Mr Loewenstein told Sky News Australia.

“At the end of this war … Israel will not be safer.

“Jewish people in Israel and Jews around the world have been made more unsafe by Israeli actions.”

Very poor analysis. No one in Israel wants to take land of Lebanon. To compare this to the land disputes in West Bank (an areas called Judea and Samaria before Jordan controlled land between 1948 to 1967 and changed the name). This land has deep Links to Jewish faith unlike land in Lebanon

Israel might not end up any safer after all these military responses but at least it won't be wiped off the map. Lowestein has always been an apologist for Israel's enemies (he must know that many of them don't respect Israel's right to exist). And, I don't know his level of Judaism observance but he's never given me the impression he agrees with the concept of a Jewish state.

You can’t bring up the Gaza death toll in good faith without accounting for how many were Hamas combatants. The IDF suggest at least 17-18k have been neutralised. He is also suggesting that Hamas is growing in certain areas. Why join a fight you know cannot be won? I thought the majority of Gazans opposed Hamas... The most egregious statement was suggesting that Israelis care if they look good or not after this war ends. Israelis have known for decades how the west actually feels about them and could care less. We see what gets taught at universities and colleges around the world. This guy is a clueless armchair expert and is not worth the air time.
