Wow, new Beirut song out of nowhere, I am so happy!!!

Some Beirut songs grow on you, some are straight up bangers from the first listening, like this one

Hard to believe it's coming up on 20 years of Beirut. I first saw them on the Gulag Orkestar tour at the legendary Empty Bottle in Chicago in 2006. I knew then that this Zach kid was gonna be around for a while. Funny he's the same age now, 39, as I was at that show.

I absolutely love the artistry of this video. I caught a live Beirut show in St. Louis around
2010 at the Pageant downtown. I do believe there was a temporary pause that evening
due to a tornado warning. Incredible live show mixed with a brief terrifying thought of a
tornado ripping through the city. He had a dozen plus family members in the audience
that night as well. Quite memorable

I’ve been a Beirut fan since 2009, since my girlfriend (now wife of many years) introduced me to their music. I am astounded that somehow their music has gotten so much better over the years. It seems like a miracle, because that’s what it is. What other musician alive today feels something, makes sure that the feeling is captured in its raw state, and polishes it enough to release while retaining its initial spark? I don’t know Zach, but as a musician myself, I feel like everytime I listen to Beirut, I’m listening to myself in a parallel universe where I am more willing and able to express myself. Good stuff.

How thankful I am to have crossed paths with the love of my life and him having introduced Beirut to me. Every time I listen to Postcards from Italy, I can’t help but stop and feel all the love we had for each other.
