LOGITECH have decided once again the best thing to do is ignore all current trends in gaming mice and just go with whatever they want! Who even needs a G703 SUPERLIGHT??? NOT ME THATS FOR SURE ROFLMAO ITS OK HAAHAHAHHA IM SURE SOMEONE WILL MAKE ONE AT SOME POINT...

Anyway, in this review we are taking a look at the Logitech G309. And in this video I'm going to attempt to understand some of it's designs choices that I'm sure were made with the consumer in mind :))))))))))))))))))

"I think they went with the removable option to sell powerplay mousepads"
Friend, I don't think a mouse that lasts over a month on a single battery, which is replaceable in seconds, is going to sell any significant amount of powerplay mousepads.

6:20 saying "PLAY WITHOUT LIMITS" while showing their tiny mousepad is crazy

I don't understand of why all the hate about the replaceable battery. It's great folks, trust me on this. Get 2 rechargeable AA battery and you practically have unlimited battery life. No more being tethered to a cable when you're low on battery, just plug a new battery in and charge the other one and you're good to go. And weight wise, i mean come on. 75g with AAA battery is good. You won't notice much going below 80g. And even if you do, i think that having a small weight compromise for unlimited battery life is still a good tradeoff.

So yeah, 309 is a good mouse, just misunderstood imho.

Honestly the removable battery is better, you can have one in mouse and second ready charged on standby -> 5 second recharge and when it eventually goes bad, you can just change the battery and not the whole mouse. I don't honestly really understand non removable Lion batteries in apliances.

i don't understand why a lot of people hate AA/AAA battery on pc peripherals, Rechargeable AA/AAA Lithium-Ion battery exist and its really light. with regular built-in battery, if the battery fails, it's not always easy to find the replacement, meanwhile it's easy to find AA/AAA battery and cheaper. then if the battery run out of juice, just change the AA/AAA battery, and recharge the used AA/AAA battery.

i still use my Logitech G603, i want to upgrade but all new mouse use build in battery, this makes me hold the upgrade until now

I don't understand how they are able to make the g pro x superlight the way it is but just refuse to give the rest of their mouse line up the same treatment. Like seriously, what's stopping them? Are they trying to be quirky? It's giving me the same vibe as when razer refused to make a viper mini pro.

i dont see how the non-removable battery is better than a removable one. rechargeable batteries goes to shit after awhile and once it does, theyre expensive to replace. meanwhile with the rechargeable removable, battery, you can have one in the charging bay while still using your mouse. when the current battery dies just switch it with the new fully charged battery. quick and simple

Honestly I'd prefer a removable battery. There is no internal battery that can fail if there is no internal battery. That is one of the things I don't like about my mouse right now, the battery is not hot-swappable.

The battery is unironically the best part of the g305 cause you don’t have to load it

So let me get this straight. Logitech provides a user serviceable, easily swappable, standard form factory battery with an ability to choose between weight and life bucking a common planned obsolescence strategy, and this is a bad thing? What?

This mouse fulfills almost all of my requirements:
AA batteries - instant battery swap without the hassle of charging it.
Bluetooth - No pesky dongle which use up my port. And many gaming mouse drops BT options for no freaking reason.
All hard plastic built - It is kinda rare to see a mouse with such built because rubber coating gets sticky and grimes accumulates on it over time which you cant really cleans it.

Things I wish it has:
Left - Right toggle on the scroll wheel - Assigning it to back and forward is a navigation joy in windows explorer and browser
RGB - With the semi transparent bottom shell, Logitech really missed the opportunity of adding RGB on this mouse as the design screams cool light show with its design.

I'm getting the white one for my brand new ROG G14 2024~!!!

I used to main a Logitech m510 and the biggest thing I miss from it was its removable battery / battery life. That thing would last over a year without me having to swap out the 2 eneloop batteries without me ever flipping off the switch. When it did finally run out of battery, recharging was as simple as swapping out for a different pair of eneloop batteries to use for the next year.

While I haven’t been bitten by it yet, I keep forgetting to charge my new mouse when I go to bed. I miss not even having to think about it. :(

Wtf is wrong with gaming mouse supporting Bluetooth also? I'm waiting for years for a proper Logitech G mouse which I can connect with dongle via Lightspeed for gaming on my PC, and the switching to my Mac for work via Bluetooth.
If they made G502 with dual mode, it would be a bestseller

I actually don't mind the batteries I hate rechargable devices, the price is the reason I hate it lmaoo

This should've been a screwless hot swap switch socket mod friendly modernized version for $29. It would've sold many millions.
If they had supplied free data for 3D printing mods on their website too Logitech would've scored so hard for zero cost to them.
Instead we got this nonsense.

THB Bluetooth is a good addition, I use the G305 as my portable mouse for my laptop, but my XPS doesn't have full size USB ports anymore, so having the option for Bluetooth is nice.

Replaceable battery is hands down a better solution. On board battery is kinda planned obsolescence not everyone is adept enough to replace those. What I dont like about is the plastic they use on the thumb grip. it's planned obsolescence too. first it gets soft, then sticky, then slowly peels away. G305 did not have this problem but g403, 603, 703 and 604 did.

I would never buy a mouse with a non replaceable battery. I don't like replacing stuff every few years when their battery dies...
