Tolga Basol Interview – Ride Must Go On

Upshift magazine recently reached out through Social Media and asked followers to submit their adventure stories. Among the submissions one stuck out the most: Tolga Basol is known on Instagram as “Ride Must Go On” for his travels around the globe on his KTM 1190 Adventure R. We caught up with Tolga before he headed out on his 2017 on his custom Husqvarna 701.

Very cool! I have a KTM 690. It took it on a 17, 000 mile journey to the tip of South America. I just sold it and I'm buying the 701 Enduro.

I would love to see an accessories list from this new 701 bike. It looks amazing and with Tolga's vast experience it would be so very helpful to those of us just starting out to know what a real vet of the road ended up using. Truly awesome bike. A couple of quick questions, if you don't mind. As I'm sure others will find to be non-issues, for me, the 701's low level fuel indicator isn't enough. I would like to have a gauge. Do the Omega tanks include a gauge? Additionally, how well do you think the carbon fibre/kevlar/glass holds up to occasionally hitting the ground, likely with rocks at times? Do you feel nerf bars are unnecessary with it? Anyway, great bike. Hope it works out well for you, and hope you'll keep us informed with your satisfaction for the bike and kit. Many thanks.

If I might ask, How d you get to work with those various brands? do you just contact them at random with a portfolio of your work and the plan of your future trip and you then work out a deal?
I would be very interested in a video explaining how these deals work! As a photographer myself, I can imagine this could be a very good way to help me with the travel budget! :)
