I've decided to collect large silver coins from around the world. My specification for coins I'll be adding to this collection are:
Diameter: approximately 35mm and up
Composition: must contain some silver
Additionally this collection won't include bullion coins.
Stay on the look out for videos of new coins being added.
I'll be posting a video for a new coin addition each Friday for the rest of the year.

If anyone has a suggestion for a coin I should add to the collection, please comment below.

A must have: a five Mark coin from imperial Germany. Doesn't matter which kingdom, as they're all standard. I'm talking about the five Mark coins after unification in 1871.

Apart from the British crown one, the most quintessential coin to collect is a decent condition 8 Reales coin(Pieces of eight)

Not sure if you are still collecting and putting together your silver crown collection, but if you are the 1937 Australian silver crown is a must to have.

I collect world coins and love the big silvers as well. Two beautiful ones to also look for are Panama Balboas and Latvia 5 Latis.

Hey man I love this stream as I'm looking for more to add to my collection as well. For you I wold recommend seeking a 1947/8 Mexican cinco pesos coin. It is also referred to as a Cuauhtemoc peso. Its not bullion, but is 40mm in diameter and thick like most Mexican coins are.

Sounds like an interesting project, I'll be looking forward to watching the additions you add, btw, you probably already know of this coin, but the 25 Mexican peso, is a rather large coin, about 1/2 oz of silver, and very affordable..Good Luck with your collection, and Thanks for sharing!!

Hey man, good luck with your starting collection! I think that may be easy for you to find canadian, mexican and central american coins with the size you want. For a start try to find Balboas, 8 Reales, 25 Pesos and others like that. Local coin shops always have some of them. Cheers, and again, good luck!

I'd recommend Australian Crowns (Sterling silver, 2 year series, but harder than it sounds) and Canadian Silver dollars (.800 fine from 1935) type set which are obtainable in MS at a reasonable price. Other British Commonwealth countries are challenging too.

British silver coins dated up to 1919 are 92.5% silver. From 1920 to 1946 are 50% silver. Any white metal (silver) coins 1947 on are all cupro-nickel.

Apparently we had the same idea though I was thinking crown size 1800-1899. Are there any good coin books on this?

Those Maria Theresa Thalers were still being struck till the 1970s, all dated 1780

I'm a bit late to this party, but I'm also slowly picking up "crown" class silver coins. For me it's a secondary goal, the first being to stack precious metals. Of course there are the Morgans and Peace, but I've also been able to find here and there some Mexican coins for decent prices. They are the 1947-48 5 Peso "Cuauhtemoc", which slightly larger than the Morgan, at 40mm, and they are 90% silver, and have about 0.86 oz of silver.

The 1955-1960 10 Peso coins (they didn't make '58 and ''59s) are the same size and have about the same amount of silver. If you keep looking, you can pick them up in uncirculated or nearly uncirculated for between $20 and $30 each.

The ultimate goal as far as I'm concerned, collecting-wise, is a nice XF to AU mid 1800s Gothic Crown. Of course that will be after I make my first million, ha ha.

This will be interesting. Try to get an Austria Netherlands Kronenthaler

Maria Theresa Thalers are weird. They were all issued with the same date. You do not get different years. There is no easy way of knowing their date.
