This is why I refuse to accept My Little Pony Generation 5 as canon. Hasbro or somebody wanted to have fun with 3D generated ponies but failed to have a good plot and continuation from G4.

G5 is a failure.

At the VERY beginning some (including me) got the impression that he ould get along well with Pinkie because of her chaotic nature and the fact that he called her "his favourite one".
Tho the fact that Fluttershy was the only one he couldn't trick into changing her ways and become her own opposite like he did with others (he got angry himself and was forced to manualy mind-controll her) could hint at something special between the two :3
Also there was this whole Dis-lestia ship going on and theories about their past but that became irrelevant later.

without a doubt discord and opaline have been the villains who have suffered the most in their lives. discord, due to his immortality, had to see fluttershy die and had to live with that pain for many centuries or millennia, and as it was understood in the end she became his wife, now one thing is to lose a friend and another thing is to lose someone who, despite all the mistakes you made, is not only capable of giving you her friendship but also her heart until eternity. opaline suffered bullying and rejection from celestia and luna, and maybe many other things like having a family that doesn't love her much and also having to endure mockery for not having a cutie mark that she possibly obtained when she stole the fire from the dragons

I'm a Fluttercord shipper and i have always questioned Discords canon past. As for his pain for losing his dearly beloved friend (or wife), it truly is sad to see him in so much pain

I always thought it was Applejack and Rainbow Dash's fault that Discord betrayed the Mane Six to Tirek, but they did not give him the benefit of the doubt or extend a proper hoof of friendship, instead they said horrible things to him like "We know you're behind this Discord!" and "Whatever color you are is the color of trouble!". While he was turned to stone, he wasn't messing about, he was actively trying to spread chaos via mental influence with mirror links as indicated in the G5 comics. Too bad Fluttershy didn't have her next of kin keep Discord company. If only he had used his chaos magic to transform the worst racist ponies into rats or something to force them into a working together situation. I can only hope Discord can spend good quality time with Sunny and her friends for as long as he can.

well Discord had a bad beginning too...

1. in the comic where Tirek is taken to a trial by his father we see someone under a cloak and that being the lord of chaos himself which means he was a slave to Tirek's own father but he wasn't freed until Scorpan became King

2. in another comic Cosmos who was Discord's first date was banished to the stars and he had to wipe her out of every pony's minds in case if they tried to find her and he keep doing her work

Honestly, you know what discord needed in the show he needed a sibling He’s the spirit of chaos and disharmony. I think it would’ve been fitting for him to have a little brother counterpart to princess Luna where she is serious and orderly he’s funny and chaotic. Discord has been living since before celestia and luna even bexake princess thousands of years ago. I think the writers of mlp didn't give that much thought to the ending. I know u was reallt shocked to see AJ and Dash together!
