For anyone wondering how the 2nd DIY tip works.
The pot is made up of clay which have very very tiny holes in it (You can search this up too). So the water will seep through the pot into the soil. So yeah This is how the 2nd tips works.

Just for the information - PET bottles with water inside while exposed the sunglight and/or heat can break down to aldehyde and antimony and move from bottle to the water.

Brilliant Olla de Barro alternative for number two! Been on the lookout something specific, but that just made the search a lot more open. Thanks a lot ;)

There is also another way if you take a plastic bottle make holes into the bottom and then dig i into the ground it will reach the roots better you can mostly do this in the summer.

The last tip is something i have been doing successfully. (growing a stump of silverbeet) where i now get baby silverbeet leaves from regularly.

The bottom of the bottle can also be cut open to form a lid. Then, bury the bottle between the plants (upside down), fill it with water for a deep watering at the roots. I often add a piece of cow dung and/or banana peel for a compost tea watering...

First off love these ideas! If you use plastic bottles do you need to be worried micro plastic/ stuff leaching from them? I want to try but avoiding plastic leaching etc seems important.

For people confused about number 2. Basically water is slowly being released close to where the roots are at. It's great for super hot climates

I use the bottom of nylon tights to put the indoor plants into, stops the mess from soil leakage.

I've done the pot one and it works great! I honestly just stuffed the hole with a bunch of scrap plastic I had lying around and then taped both sides of the hole. Worked perfectly!

little tip for number 2 (the olla, ) you can use a penny and some glue to seal it. also can use the the bottom saucers to cover the top (stop slugs and algae.)
