😮 August-September 1975 I lived on the hillside of Blacks Beach in my sleeping bag, with my dog. I hiked up those cliffs every day to shower at the university and buy food. I cooked on an open fire on the beach. I had just left Pennsylvania after I sold my 1965 VW bus for $900, spent 3 months traveling and camping across the country ( with my sister, her 2 kids, husband, 3 dogs, a 1 cat. They went to Sunnyvale, I stayed in San Diego on Blacks Beach [yes, spent every day just listening to the ocean]. In September I rented a house in Leucadia and well, life is a journey! I was 28 when I left Pennsylvania, was 56 when I returned to Pennsylvania and am 76 now. I have a 39 year old daughter, a 23 year old grandson and a 16 year old grandson. Looking for the perfect travel van to begin new travels.

I was a lifeguard there in the mid 80s...that cliff @ Blacks Beach was always declared unstable by the Army Corp of Engineers.

GREAT FOOTAGE!!!!
The person filming truly understood the assignment and caught some amazing footage of this cliff collapse. just amazing to watch things like this happening instead of just before and after images

This is how my imagination always creeps me out when seeing those drone shots looking down on people standing on a high rocky overhang. I don't care how long it has existed throjghout time ...time could be up at any moment now.

Been up and down those cliffs many times growing up in San Diego. Gliderport on top and the NUDE beach below.
To this day, people are being rescued from paths leading downward to dead ends and their not being able to descend any further and not also able to climb back up and out.
Normal beach cliff erosion pretty much. Everyone knew not to put your towel next to the cliffs for this reason.

That's what happened to my house back in 1998 after a big swell and high tide hitting the cliff. 5 houses on our road were destroyed. We were about 200 feet up above the beach with a similar type sand cliff. Big Lagoon

Those cliffs are no joke, obviously, my mom was telling me about this newlywed couple vacationing there some years back. The guy goes out surfing while his wife stays sunbathing. He catches a wave, then paddles back out, turns around to see her waving at
as the cliff begins to crumble & collapse like this one. He saw it totally bury day 1 of their life officially together! True story...
