My thoughts on how this PR move by Activision could have negative effects on the company.

Him getting poached would be the greatest single improvement to Activision Blizzard that's ever happened

Base salary doesn't really matter(for that position), it is all incentives and stock options.

you do realise that the base salary is meaningless in this type of role !?

I doubt theres much risk of him being poached after he was just given a 200m bonus a few months ago

Rumour has it he took a pay cut to be able to pay himself a bigger bonus later on.

Yeah Bobby "The Greedy" Kotick is good at fireing staff and lowering their christmas bonuses from cash pay to online game shop voucher. If anyone were to be poached it would be the staff like DreamHaven have been doing ever since it launched.

Should reduce it by 100%. Fire Bobby
As for worrying about money, Bobby and similar overpaid ceos haven't had to worry at all after working a single year. They're set for life after that.

How is he ever going to make it through winter with a mere 850.000?

He's under contract with ATVI until 2023 with some very lucrative bonuses and stock options, all of which will expire if he's head hunted by a different company. There's no danger he'll get poached.

I'd love it if another company paid him more to go there.

He might be good at making shareholders money, but he's absolutely godawful for people who care about the quality of the game rather than shareholder profits.

He has no bearing on any of the quality elements of the game, just on how tightly blizzard squeeze us for cash and how many corners they cut in pursuit of it.

Unless Blizzard is on the edge of financial ruin, I'd happily sacrifice a guy who cares about shareholders in favour of a guy who cares about gamers.

Eh, seems appropriate. He doesn't seem to do much, in fact it looks like he might even hurt the company at times with his decisions..

1:05 Jim is a 'her' now? Is that a brand new thing publicly? And also wondering what plans there are to transition if any...

No one gets a 50% paycut when you have record profits because you're well-loved and great at your job.

Maybe not no one, but Bobby Kotick doesn't come off as the exception here.

They could half his pay 6 more times and he would still earn more than me. The man doesn't need that much. If my wage got cut in half once I couldn't afford to live anymore.

This wasn't a PR move hatched from Activision Blizzard marketing team. Sure it's good optics but the reality of the situation is the new pay program was borne out a lengthy 12 month consultation period ATVI did with over 40 companies that represented 66% of their outstanding stock. Which was hatched from only getting 57% support for ATVI's 2020 compensation program. They did over 70 meetings a great majority of which had either Bobby Kotick and/or a member of ATVI's Compensation Comittee present. It was not a knee-jerk reaction to recent news about Bobby's bonuses.

good. 875k is a solid salary. people dont need to make more than that in a year. yes, there are places where cost of living is insane. well, that needs to change anyway.
