I would never have suspected the heater for that crazy noise. Nice investigative work!

I've two Hygger heaters make strange noises. One they replaced under warranty no questions asked. The second time it happened, I just threw it out. Also same issue with the suction cups.

Michael, fun facts, relook this video. It looks like you are steaming. 😊 Airflow from the tank behind you, 😅 All jokes aside, thanks for sharing news on the heater. 👍👍👍

Nice catch! The heater does look in rough shape seeing that it’s only approximately a yr old! Dam!

Wow. The heater did it. Who knew. I’m happy with the Aquarium Coop 50w heater. Then again, my bio load is a single betta fish. Still…I enjoy the heck outta that fish!

Michael be on the safe side and unplug it. You never know when it will stop working or worse - fry your fish… be safe! Happy Passover!

My aquarium co op heater made the exact same noise when the red heating up light was on and would stop once it hit the desired heat.

Yeah Mike I had a Hygger heater for about 6 months and then boom no heat. Luckily I caught it as it was the coldest day in Feb here in North Jersey. Tank was down to 70. Luckily all fish made it. I have had multiple products that always fail within 6 months to 1 year. Needless to say I don't buy any more hygger products.

I'm curious as to their response. I only run 2 heaters and they are both Hyggers. They are at least a year old and appear similar to the model you are using.

I would have to think it is either a capacitor or coil in the heater control assembly. I know that stunner will make that same whine when ready to malfunction. I've also had computer power supplies to make that same noise but much higher and louder. If water has leaked into the heater tube assembly, this could also cause it since it would change the resistance of the heater coils. I would have to also guess they are turning AC to DC for this to happen. The sound would still be coming from outside the heater on the control board.
Thanks for the great vids and all your info. Take Care and Stay Safe.

Very possible that it's rust. I had one of their heaters that did the same thing and had chunks of rust fall out of it when I cleaned it out. Unfortunately, after cleaning it didn't want to work anymore. My heater was the HG-969 500w for 60-120 gallons.

in my experience their customer servise is good, they replaced my light within a few days when my hyggar light would flicker when i rested my hand ontop 😅

hey mike.if you set an air stone in the uplift tube of the wisper filter you could use it as a hob box filter. how neet is that....and you were not wrong, you just didn't have all the facts to make an informed decision.. stay well

I've learned Hygger products are pretty trash. Great at first but they have no longevity.

Do not envy fish heads... have to deal with heaters.
