I don't like Iizuka as a series director, but I always appreciated him as a game designer. Glad to hear that he's not using this "every game I make is important" but freely saying that sa2 is his favourite up to this day

I almost feel sorry for the guy. It's like he has permanent awareness that Sonic is presented as a top level title, but yet it rarely meets this criteria and is rarely received as such.

It must be hell developing these games. They rushed the first, never stopped rushing maybe outside of one or two games and the franchise feels like it's not living up to its potential for 30 years due to harsh management.

Unbelievable really.
