Foraging Road Trip In The Scottish Highlands - Leaving Our Cottage On Skye, Scotland -Ep90

Willie, Sarah and their dogs, Jack Spaniels & Nori, continue their biggest adventure yet - leaving suburban life and moving over the sea to a remote cottage on the Isle of Skye, off the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.

This week, the Skye Lifers are heading out on the road - on the hottest day of the year so far, in their Land Rover Defender...with no air-con!!

Can we bring the sunshine with us., as we cross the Scottish Highlands, from the Isle of Skye in the west to the coastal town of Kirkcaldy in the East?!

We use this opportunity to stop at some of our favourite autumnal foraging spots, to see if we can find any of the amazing wild mushrooms that we love to eat - ceps and chanterelles.

Please remember - this video is not a foraging field guide. We have over 20 years experience of foraging and we only pick what we are 100% sure about the ID of. Please do not eat any wild foods that you are unsure about - if in doubt, leave it behind!

Thanks for watching & see you in the next video!

It might seem a bit weird, but I love the sound that's made when you're pulling the mushrooms from the earth. It's very satisfying. 😄🍄

So nice to see adult kids who are YouTubers being family oriented and unselfish. I’m sure you missed a great weekend on Skye but you made Willys parents happy and proud!

Having just spent 3 weeks travelling around Scotland in our campervan we agree with just about all you've said!! Lean to Coffe shop cinnamon buns are to die for😊 Pattack Falls, wonderful woods & walks. House of toilets on our pay the whisky shop is worth casting an eye pretty much drove that route along the A86 & A9 last week. Lovely to see it again even though we're now 500 miles away in Devon.

Oh what a treat! I have just driven up to Perth, (Western Australia) to drop my youngest son off to his boarding school for the last time, as it’s his last two weeks of high school before Valedictory ( the second week) Its a 5&1/2 hour drive, followed by a quick catch-up with other mums, ( and a couple of Dads) So it’s been a long day. I got to my daughter’s house & grabbed a bite to eat and had a chat before falling into bed. I was thrilled to see your latest drop! I especially love your foraging adventures! It’s like we’re with you! I’m up early for nine holes of golf with my gal pals, before heading home to Denmark (Western Australia again!) the 5&1/2 hours in reverse! (Not backwards… 😂)

A drive like that is no hardship even when the weather is poor.

Edradour whiskey is my favourite too, the Edradour cream is delicious and made even better with frozen silver birch sap ice cubes 🧊 🥃 enjoy 😉

Love my morning start with watching your video. Lovely summer weather for Skye but cloudy in Fife. So neat to see Willie back in his band days in those pics. Good mushroom hunting, good harvest. Enjoy your summer weather. 🌞🐾🍄

My first thought watching you all foraging, train the dogs
Spaniels are perfect for it. Both are from a long line of working dogs.
You only have to watch how they both work the ground searching for sent.
Train them on sent, to find, sit & alert, same as all the drug/money/bomb dogs...
They are such smart dogs.
Great vid as ever, thanks 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
