Asgore in Undertale: "I am so sorry, child. I do not deserve your mercy."

Asgore in UTY: "PREPARE THYSELF!"

I love how this version of ASGORE doesn't have an ending point. It smoothly transitions back into itself, because you're not getting out of this until you're dead.

despite his lackluster showing in the genocide run, THIS moment served as a much-needed reminder (to both the player and the undertale community at large) why asgore is the KING. we never really get that sense in the main game, since we can beat him even at LV 1, but... the way this game presents him as this insurmountable force clover can NEVER hope to beat gives him a sense of gravitas and presence that i really appreciate

also, my friend had the idea that maybe the true pacifist ending where clover sacrifices themselves is the "canon" ending to this game, and is why asgore acts so differently upon meeting frisk. here, he's still willing to do what must be done for the sake of his kingdom, but... learning that a completely innocent human sacrificed their life for his cause would've rocked his world and thrown everything he knew into question. is his grudge against humanity still justified? can he morally defend his previous actions, as well as what he's about to do to frisk? it's interesting to think about

An emotional take on Asgore for a fittingly heavily emotional moment. Nothing to live for, nothing to do except wait for the inevitable. It’s simply how it has to end.

Pros of being an Asgore fan: Getting to see him be threatening again.
Cons of being an Asgore fan: Seeing him be sad yet again.

Many people say the reason Clover lost to Asgore is because they weren't determined enough, and that's definitely part of the reason. But I like to believe that part of that is because Clover didn't understand Asgore. As Asgore talks to them at the barrier, Clover is quick to pull their gun out against him, something they only otherwise do on the Genocide Route, perhaps implying that Clover is angry at Asgore and that they want revenge for the other humans that died at Asgore's hands.

While in contrast, Frisk wanted nothing more than to spare Asgore, and saw him as who he really was: a broken man who just wants to see his wife and children again. Clover refusing to show mercy to Ceroba, a similar character who also lost her spouse and child, shows that Clover most likely wanted to kill Asgore as well. Frisk's determination to save Asgore, rather than to lash out in violence, is possibly what guided Frisk to victory.

I like how the beginning is soft and quiet, comforting even. Like Asgore is reassuring Clover in their final moments, and wants to give them a quick and easy death.

Neutral-analog horror
Genocide-makes you feel like a hero, while you are a villain
Flawed Pacifist-what we all expected
Pacifist-sad, true ending

* The world can be a cruel place.
* It takes and gives as it chooses.
* But...
* I suppose I have talked long enough.
* ...
* I will make this quick.
* No need to worry.

"No human has ever made it past ASGORE."

This "fight" really was emotional. We also only see Asgore two times during this game (not counting the intro). You see him at the end of the "justice" route, where you kill him. And you see him on Flawed Pacifist, where he kills you.

This thing just really was such a heartbreaking scenario. This intense and unwinnable conflict just deserved this incredibly realized take on the theme. So damn good

Honestly i like this ending together with the neutral ending the most simply because of how both asgore aswell as flowey are completely overpowering the player. unlike in the original undertale in which you were atleast able to fight back

It just shows how strong the red soul actually is in comparison and i just absoluty love it for that

I love how they brought back Asgore’s theme while creating a new emotional twist that he must do this for his people and the whole underground and there is no turning back now.
