The BEST Diving in Indonesia | Raja Ampat

In this video we continue exploring in Raja Ampat where we have decided has to have the best diving in Indonesia!

It is our 4th full day in Raja Ampat and it is going to be another full day of diving! We have had 3 really full days so far. Yesterday we took a day trip out to the Blue River. We went for a refreshing swim and the water was crystal clear and beautiful. We went on another awesome snorkel at 5 Rocks and then had a relaxing afternoon back at our place.

As much as we have enjoyed the couple of day trips we have been on, nothing can beat the scuba diving here.

We get off to an early start, have some breakfast and then head out around 8AM. We have a 50 minute ride near Mansuar Island to our first dive site, Yenbuba.

The reef is beautiful and the marine life is everywhere. This happens to be the busiest dive site have visited so far in Raja Ampat with at least 3 other larger dive groups in the water with us. However, there is still plenty of reef to explore so it does not feel crowded at all!

After our first dive we head to a nearby sand bar island which we learn is a very popular surface interval spot. The other dive boats finished around the same time as us so there is quite the crowd of people here. It is amazing nonetheless. To be honest we have been so spoiled during our time in Raja Ampat and this is the most tourists we have seen since arriving. We have some coffee and enjoy the amazing white sand and crystal clear water.

We head about 20 minutes to our next dive spot of Cape Friwen. We are the only dive boat at this site! We have heard about the strong currents in Raja Ampat but we have been very fortunate so far to dive during calm currents. This dive gives us a small feel for how strong the currents can get. We nearly get separated from our guide but luckily we are able to avoid the worst of the current and we continue to have an amazing dive.

After 45 minutes or so, we come to the surface just in time for a rain storm and head back to our place for lunch.

This is sadly our last day on Doberai Private Island so we want to get in the water one more time to snorkel. There are a couple of house reefs in this area and we have already explored the closest reef a couple of times so this afternoon we make our way around to the other reef. We snorkel along a cliff and the reef drops off into VERY deep water. We could have stayed in the water for hours... there is so much beauty and marine life to take in.

We have had such an AMAZING time here. We are so sad to leave but thankfully we are not done with Raja Ampat just yet and tomorrow we will be heading to another island.

This is a very well done account of diving in Raja Ampat. Especially enjoyed seeing the variety of corals at both the dive sites reached by boat and the snorkeling on the house reefs. Thanks for sharing!

I've been twice to Raja Ampat and it's as beautiful as your video far, it's still off the beaten track.

Raja is amazing, but There quite a few places in Indonesia where the diving is a lot better If you wanna see hammerheads, tigersharks and all the Big stuff. Lokal knowledge and liveabboard is the Way to go👍

Could you guys provide some pointers in regards to where to find the local guides, yet PADI, or liveaboard, diving sites, budget, etc...? I'm literally dying to go there and take my mom and my partner as we all divers 🤩

Why most of the corals don't look colourful? Are they dead or it's just the camera saturation that makes them don't look colourful?

Much better the snorkeling video than the diving video
