Fun fact. The loudest sound ever created by humans was 270 db. The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory used an X-Ray beam so loud it instantly can boil water.

Loudest show I ever went to was November 22, 2019. Electric Wizard. To put it into context, I saw Motörhead in the front row twice. No hearing issues after the show. The morning after Electric Wizard, I was nearly deaf and had massive tinnitus in both ears. To this day, December 2020, I am much better but STILL have issues. Protect those ears, folks. They are one of the only things that don’t heal.

My late mother saw Motörhead on their bomber tour in 1979 and couldn't hear for 3days. She was the one who showed me proper music 🙏

In my experience the loudest show was HEALTH 4 years ago. But my uncle says that ACDC on their Stiff Upper Lip tour were the loudest thing imaginable

I once saw buckethead in a bar and I’m surprised I lived, it was so loud

anything above 125-130 causes pain, and with prolonged exposure can cause hearing loss. anything higher than 155-160 your eardrums will suffer permanent damage and leave you deaf. ABOVE 185-200 DECIBELS CAN KILL YOU FROM THE SOUND ENERGY ALONE

I think AIRBOURNE is really really loud. I saw them in Hamburg a few years ago and they blew my mind. There is no wonder that Airbourne wrote the track "Its never too loud for me" in the last Album.

The wife and I were at a U2 show in Oakland, CA with speakers evenly distributed on the grounds. I have plenty of concerts under my belt and I have played drums for years next to a Mesa Boogie bass amp and I have to say that it was probably the loudest show that I have heard. She lost hearing there and complained about it for years.

I went to a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert back in August at Truist Park, got seats at least 500 feet from the stage (on a balcony) and I swear, even with earplugs in I could feel the sound! Best show ever!!!

I put in makeshift earplugs before the show starts. It drops the db about 10 - 15 or so, still incredibly loud and my ears last just a bit longer.

And Tinnitus is born. Guys protect your ears. Tinnitus is living hell. Can’t sleep zombie mode. Annoying whistling/turbine noise during the day. Avoid very loud things and use ear protection. It will show up in your late 40’s +

Speaking of the Motörhead concert in 1986. I damage to the theater in Cleveland was specifically a crack in the ceiling. And we thought it was crazy that opera singers can stand on stage and shatter a wine glass at the back of a theater using only their voice using no audio equipment whatsoever.

An iPod on max volume with apple earbuds is 110 decibels. A home stereo system with 88 dB efficient 70 watt bookshelf speakers on max is 97 decibels in a 180 sq ft room. The Beatles concert in 1965 is about 130 dB even though the speakers are only 200 watts per speaker, it’s from the acoustics of the amphitheater and the magic of vacuum tubes, compression drivers with multicell horn, and horn loaded woofers. Making it not only one of the top 5 loudest concerts but also one of the top 5 best best sound quality rock concerts ever.

About 10 years ago I was at an Animals as Leaders concert in Orlando Florida where a relatively unknown band called Intronaut played the loudest set I've ever heard in my life. It was so loud that my eyes were oscillating, which hurt like hell. Fortunately my brother had given me some earplugs that night and most likely saved my hearing in the process. I saw them again a few years later when they were the backing band for Cloudkicker and fortunately were not as loud that time.

According to Edwards Air Force Base, the F-18E super hornet is 148 db in full afterburner, that is the loudest thing I have ever heard besides the F-15 which is 149 db but with1 db of difference, i could not tell.
