Just to get the info out there. In her plea of being guilty as charged, she mentions she had no intention of breaking the law. Take that into consideration that she flew out of an American airport with the illegal substance in her possession (The substance is still classified as a schedule 1 and is federally illegal in the USA), and she was detained and arrested in Moscow where she had a connecting flight to take her to another Russian city. She wasn't just in possession of this substance that is illegal in both countries she knowingly and intentionally transported it across country borders. Drug possession (in the USA) is a sentence of up to one year and some fine that probably wouldn't be considerable to a professional athlete. Drug trafficking (in the USA) is a felony constituting a sentence of 20 years or more in prison. Drug possession (in Russia) without the intent to distribute is up to three years in prison. Drug trafficking, or possession with intent to traffic, (in Russia) is a sentence of between ten and 15 years in prison. After a criminal serves their sentence in a foreign country it is up to the criminal's home country to decide if they want to sentence them once they return or not in regards to the countries sentencing guidelines. This puts it at anywhere between 10 to 18 years in prison (in Russia) and anywhere from 20 or more years in prison (in the USA). If the trade goes through I hope the Judiciary system follows its guidelines and gives the appropriate sentence. "No justice, no peace!" Right?
