Dela Ensemble Ali Tahamtani

“Dela Ensemble” is a Persian classical music band founded in early 2015, the aim of this band is to introduce the traditional/classical music of Iran, which consists of characteristics developed through the country's classical, medieval, and contemporary eras. Iran's classical art music continues to function as a spiritual tool, as it has throughout history, and much less of recreational activity. It belongs for the most part to the social elite, as opposed to the folkloric and popular music, in which the society as a whole participates. However, the parameters of Iran's classical music have also been incorporated into folk and pop music compositions. This music relies on both improvisation and composition and is based on a series of modal scales and tunes. Compositions can vary immensely from start to finish.

In Dela Ensemble Indigenous Iranian musical instruments include string instruments such as the Tar, Santur, Setar, TarBass, Tanboor, and Violin and percussion instruments such as the tombak and daf. This music is very bound to the poetry of legends such as Rumi, Hafez, Khayam, Forough Farokhzad, and Sohrab Sepehri. Dela Ensemble members have had performances with Maestro Saket in Sydney Australia and continue creating and composing original pieces by Aran Dekar and Mehdi Mansouri for future performances.
