my theory: Sonic was also trapped in the backrooms for a long time and being there for so long made him panic...But seeing someone there made him so happy that he ran to him to ask him questions about how they ended up there. But he was so happy that he didn't measure the speed and hit him by mistake :v

This is my own take on how the backrooms work: Both humans and video game characters get transported to the backrooms each time they no clip or glitch through reality or virtual boundary. Therefore, it's not uncommon to find anything or anyone in the backrooms, such as Sonic, Giga Chad, Easter Island head, Ronald McDonald, Amogus, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Spongebob, Pingu, The Hulk, Vegeta, Spiderman, Mario, SCP's, Pacman, Shrek, Steven Armstrong, and many more.

With the exception of maybe Quandale Dingle, I wonder if these encounters could be avoided if the wanderer decides to greet them and engage when spotted, rather than run. Running implies fear and probably cowardice, which some entities could take as you sneaking up on them later. If that's the case, then they might perceive _you_ as a potential threat later when their guard is low. Hence why these encounters tend to be so hostile in the first place
