teenage engineering choir’s midi compatibility is where the magic really happens. conduct your choir with OP–1 field, OP–Z, or any midi keyboard with ble connectivity.

to connect OP–1 field, simply put it in pairing mode for midi, then hold down the button on one doll to pair the whole choir (it will sing that it’s searching for a controller and when it is connected). then you’re ready to play! choir will instantly sing the notes in your composition. you can adjust the qualities of the vibrato, consonants, vowels and reverb via the navy, ochre, grey and orange keys respectively. view the web guide to learn more.

I'm kind of hoping Teenage Engineering's next product will be a head scratcher. Because for some reason, every time they release a new thing, I find myself scratching my head.

The chord progression in this video is so beautiful, especially paired with the weird robot-angelic voices.

Ppl complaining about prices usually don’t realize that we are now able to own products that only a few of the biggest studios could afford 30-40 years ago.
A reason is the big advancement in semi-conductor and chip tech.
Another reason is the modern-day slavery of big corp in low income countries, like China, India and others.
Also: the usage of below standard quality components, transformers, casings etc. Resulting in broken products, that are 99, 9% perfect condition, but unusable and not efficient to repair (so dispose and buy new).
The usage of soft touch, a sort of rubber coating on all types of products, that decomposes after 5 years leaves the owner with a big sticky mess, sometimes very hard to remove and thus making eg. your MPC or professional photo camera completely unusable.
The main goal of big companies is profit and that increases when you waste a lot of items and products. This is for me a reason to think that everything should be 5x more expensive (more pay for workers and increased quality and lifetime of product, so in 200 years the grandchildren of my children will also still have raw materials left to produce from (and by that I don’t mean a toxic garbage dump presented by our generation to recycle).
The stuff I own from TE has been engineered in a way that it is going to last a much longer than a lot of other ‘cheaper’ brands. And I’m happy that when something breaks or gets dirty - I can clean or repair it myself. Quality and fair pricing is what we need.
Not Black Fridays and components built to break after a certain period. It’s absurd how we perceive and think about this in our time.

This is somthing differerent, from a craftsman myself and a designer perspective, its clear that Teenage engineering is pushing the boundries, in a playfull way. Price seems fair enoug. Don't under estimate the craftsmanship that is being put into these, please keep on playing TE, at least you're doing it. I can't afford it mysefl but I do think its amazing.

I would love to have a live stream of the 8 dolls with online viewers able to play them using an on-screen display...

if you're curious, each of them costs as much as $249. There are 8 of them so in total, the full set is $2000. You have to buy them separately

Very cool. Reminds me of the robot choir at the end of Portal.

I was completely and totally unaware that you were the same people behind Absolut Choir; I am working on a project inspired by Absolut Chior and an 80s toy called "Frog Chorus" that I had when I was a kid. This is super cool, but WAY out of my budget lol.

They’re pretty cool…still would rather get a PO33 or PO32. I appreciate you guys constantly surprising me with your designs, keep that up.

Very creative idea, niche market, good business move as the wealthy are the only people with money and 2k on this is a rich mans toy . Its a great idea as a business and the tones are really lovely and quirky . The clever part here is that its defining a new market a bit . Toy collectors are going to love this as much as creative sound designers and musicians . The workmanship looks stunning .
