Have you heard of adenosine?

It’s kind of like Ctrl + Alt + Delete for your heart because surgeons will have to use it to flatline the heart in certain emergency medical scenarios and hopefully restart normal function.

This gives me a whole new respect for the EMTs that gave me this in the ambulance; they were so calm like it was no big deal.

I have something called SVT. Ive received that drug multiple times and it is a scary feeling. First my heart feels like it's going to explode and then the drug is given and relief.

I've given this med more times than I can remember.
It still scares the crap out of me. LOL

Seeing your own heart stop and flatline right in front of your eyes is honestly so terrifying. I had to do it twice in a row and it's a crazy feeling.. like a warmth that rushes thru your whole body head to toe and then your heart just /stops/. I hope to never have to go thru it again, but, I am thankful it worked. ♥

Truth is Adenosine has such a short half life that in order to effectively administer it, you have to rapidly push it or it will not be effective! Your heart will definitely start beating again!

Wow! Love this breakdown. My fiancé had a heart attack last fall at 43 years old and his heart rate was so high the machine couldn’t get a read- luckily he’s okay and I’m positive I made a couple diamonds that day too 😂

I had this 2 times in a row. After a series of hearth problems. My svt got a lot worse. I think I was at like 220bmp. It took me a few minutes to bounce back after the second dose.

I’m getting my emt basic and A Call on of of my clinicals ended up being an SVT. Second day on a truck, hands down the craziest thing I’ve seen in my entire life.

😂😂😂😂 TRUTH!!! And the patients remind me of Fred Sanford on Sanford and Son.... holding his chest saying, "I'm coming Elizabeth!!!" 😂😂😂😂

It's not ctrl + alt + delete. It would be ctrl + Z or more preciously alt + F4, which is the short key for restaring your computer. Ctrl + alt + delete would be taking out the heart or stopping it permanently, which is not a good metaphor when it comes to scary drugs like adenosine.

Ctrl+alt+del? Wrong. In recent versions of windows it only shows a MENU. its actually the equivalent to a restart. (Just very fast like a few seconds)

You can get a similar effect by drinking a properly made electrolyte drink with potassium, celtic sea salt, magnesium chloride and calcium lactate.

And I thought having atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter was bad. I felt like my heart was a flipper flopper fish beating in my chest. Later on got an ablation. I can't even imagine
