Offred is a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead. She may leave the home of the Commander and his wife once a day to walk to food markets whose signs are now pictures instead of words because women are no longer allowed to read. She must lie on her back once a month and pray that the Commander makes her pregnant. Basically, if the male dominance started in this period of time, it got worse with the young ones that can't even pray in the 20th century, what we've learned is starting with this book -ignorance, torture passes the marginal line, and forgetfulness takes precedence. Unless you signed an agreement, then your chop liver.. The images fit but not coizants..

Imagine that what if those graceful commanders and their families, they could manipulate the thoughts, I mean, what June is thinking about, not just all the bloody hand prints left in both sides of the door connected to outside world, you know, via dream, or something like that, like they don’t have to use force anymore, they could tell people the same lie over and over, they tell people what they should do, what’s right, when people falling in sleep, telling people getting married, have children, contribute the worthless self-world to a greater society, so when those commanders pretending that they just accidentally encountering June, the scene could be more like a date rather than trap

But it’s impossible right? Not the technology, in real world there is no commander right? and in that fantasy world, commanders are so busy protecting their handmaids from the malicious outside world, the world is to dangerous for those little women
