Anna shares her experience of working 2 jobs to financially support her family. She shares how some of the older women in her family visited her home and made a fuss about why she didn't do any chores at home as the eldest daughter even though she has younger sisters at home. Anna shares her experience of the modern Polynesian woman in western society, where there are many Polynesian women who are starting to step up and fill the traditional role of the man as the breadwinner in the family but are still viewed, expected to fulfill their duties as a traditional woman to clean, cook and maintain the house. We shared our discussions on this topic and how modern Polynesian women have evolved in their role, expectations and lifestyle and how many Polynesian women are starting to be progressive in the way they live their life and choosing not be restricted by the traditional conservative roles in the Polynesian culture.
