LAFD RTX Walkaround

Показать описание
Todd McBride, the sales and marketing manager for Rosenbauer America, introduces the all new RTX, a firetruck with an electric portion and a diesel range extender. When the batteries reach 20%, the range extender will kick in and recharge the batteries in as little as 45 minutes, extending operation for another 4-6 hours. The truck also has an adjustable air suspension that allows for different ground clearances for various conditions, such as driving, off-road, wading, and fording. The cab of the truck has been designed to feel like a command center and has no engine tunnel. The truck also has a number of features to improve safety and convenience for firefighters.

I like the fact it has a slightly more narrow shorter footprint for operating in more tight inner city spaces.

Finally I've seen a US firetruck with a quick supply 1" high pressure line..

You forgot to show how those LED panels on the sides can light up a street at night. It's stunning every time.

What an awesome machine! I'm just an enthusiastic bystander in the industry, but the ability to just leave the truck "ON" seems like a huge advantage versus the old fleet. Since BEVs are using so little power idling, it seems very clever to have them one step closer to being ready to roll out of the firehouse and save some seconds when they count.

I drove a fire engine for 29 years. Believe me this one is awesome! Wish I could drive and pump this one !!

Wow! Very interesting fire engine, I did not expect electric fire engines to appear so quickly. The future is here today, thanks to the Rosenbauer team. It will be interesting to see how she performs in real-life firefighting for years to come 🚒

The Inner cab is pretty bad ass
Kinda like the spartan big cabs

How are the mirror cameras legal?
Is it because it’s an emergency vehicle?
Regular trucks and cars aren’t allowed to have that yet in the US.

I can already say: This vehicle IS a gamechanger!

The field test that the fire department of Berlin had with a prototype of a similar vehicle for over a year exceeded every expectation and showed some small things that needed improvement but in the meantime they ordered FIVE vehicles for the regular service.

Some of the biggest advantages is the fast acceleration and braking, (Ever seen a Tesla accelerating? Well, this truck can do that too!) the all-wheel-steering what makes the vehicle VERY agile, the big cabin and the larger compartments that allow it that no, or less, equipment needs to be stored on the roof anymore and everything is easy to access.

Having spent 32 years in the fire service, this new type of mainly electronic apparatus will have constant issues. We had some Rosenbauer ARFF vehicles that were delivered with issues.

I can see the "adjustable suspension" putting the unit out of service often, as well as the pump by wire "feature"

The proof will be how it's performance will be after running service calls because gremlins just love electrical systems but this is one beautiful piece of equipment I must say

I think booster reels have an unjustified bad reputation. Years back some would pull them on structural fires with of course bad results. But they have a place for small, outside fires like rubbish, brush, etc.

I’m curious about the location of the Diesel engine. Also how much electrical issues it has. Just glad it’s not a Ferrara! Pierce should be another good one that’s on the street now too.
