#3 he caught the ball low. when he caught the ball, he had to bring the ball up into scoring position, THEN put just a little on it to lay it in. anyone who plays basketball knows how hard it is to lay it up in mid air when you catch the ball lower then you wanted it. keep in mind he had a 0.3 second window before he was essentially behind the backboard. he had to raise the ball as quickly as possible, then STOP THE BALL as put the slight touch on it to lay it in.

yeah, millions of people watching you, 0.6 six seconds left with gasol on you. very easy layup huh. amazing logic by youtubers

I do believe that earlier in the game, Dwight Howard had a MUCH more explicit goaltending, and the officials missed that. The call wasn't made for a number of possible reasons. Pau's hand in the rim did not affect the shot outcome as much as Dwight's goaltending.

definitely NOT an easy shot.

and to everyone saying they shouldnt have trusted a rookie, what would yuou have done? everyone in the building anticipated a lob to dwight howard. this was a masterfully designed play.

@matatan69 this was 0.6 seconds from the gameending away.the game is tied, so if somebody would have scored, his the game would be won. his coach designed a nice play to get him a free layup, which is something everybody who plays ball should be able to convert.that shot he should make was not THAT easy but also not very hard and he is in the best bball league of the world, so you expect him to put it in.but he didn't, the game went o overtime and his team lost.

yeah I don't get why people say it was an easy basket. It was not. Kobe was guarding him, and he had to do the lay up almost behind the back board.

remember aaron brooks half court ally oop layin on the lakers? that was easy because he basically jumped straight up and came back straight down. courtney lee was on the move.

How about we see you make that layup dldowell1122

#2 because of #1 hes forced to lay it up. since he was slowed down by kobe, he has to run faster then he wanted to, because the ball was already in the air and he had to make it there in time. as a result of this, when he caught the ball, he had LESS then 0.6 seconds to shoot, because in about 0.3 seconds he was behind the backboard, due to his momentum carrying him out of bounds, makin the shot almost impossible.

if lee makes that shot, that would be a scary moment for the lakers. esp. in game 4 if magic gets this win and led 2 - 1 in g3, it's very sad for lakers to see a 3 - 1 but for derek fisher making a 3-PT.

@Prodigy408SJC Thats not true, if you interfere with the rim before the ball hits it, it could be called goaltending.

Even as a magic fan I find this funny.

The add would make sense if they had correcly called Gasol for goaltending.

I hope this question is not directed towards me; I saw that. The Magic fan commenter seems to have missed that play though.

@06qwert06 dude the shot is harder then u think.

that wasnt an easy shot.

#1 kobe pulled his arm just as he made his break. this slowed him down and forced him to regain his balance. as a result he didnt have the positioning or time to do a 2 foot gather and dunk the ball.
