The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, has plans of purchasing Manchester United outright despite owning Paris Saint-Germain, according to The Guardian.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that the Emir is interested in taking control of United, but there needs to be a regulation change from UEFA for a deal to materialise.
As per current rules, United and Paris Saint-Germain can’t be involved in the same European competition if they are owned by the same entity in Qatar Sports Investment (QSI).
It is now revealed that the Emir plans to demonstrate to UEFA that each club will be owned by a separate entity with United having a different structure and personnel to PSG.
Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig faced each other in the Europa League back in 2018 despite having the same proprietor in Red Bull GmbH. The Emir is aiming for something similar.
