BMW Z1 Doors opening UP and Down

We see a BMW Z1 with its unique doors opening up and down at the 2016 Ault Park Concours d'elegance. It's very difficult for me to go to a car show and see something I've never seen, but the BMW Z1 is one of them!

Wow! I always thought the door slid forward like the Kaiser Darrin. This is even crazier. Saw a Z1 in Greenwich a few weeks ago with the door open, still thought it went forward!

thats dope i never seen anything like it either, actually i dont even think i heard of a bmw Z b4 the z3. What year is this one?
