Columbus City Council Meeting Highlights:
• HONORING DR. JAVAUNE ADAMS-GASTON: Council President Shannon Hardin is presenting resolution 0176X-2019 to celebrate the contributions of Dr. Javaune Adams-Gaston to The Ohio State University, and congratulate her as President-elect of Norfolk State University.
• PROVIDING YOUTH SPORTS OPPORTUNITIES: Council President Pro Tem Elizabeth Brown, chair of the Recreation and Parks Committee is sponsoring ordinance 1321-2019 to authorize the Director of the Department of Recreation and Parks to enter into a grant agreement with Gladden Community House in support of its Youth Team Sports program.
• CONNECTING TRAFFIC SIGNALS THROUGH FIBER: Councilmember Shayla Favor, chair of the Public Service and Transportation Committee is sponsoring ordinance 1473-2019, to authorize the Director of Public Service to enter into contract with Gudenkauf Corporation for Signal Installation-Columbus Traffic Signal System Phase E.
• THE POWER OF DATA: Councilmember Rob Dorans, chair of the Technology Committee is sponsoring ordinance to continue working with Tableau, a data visualization and business intelligence software platform.
• FUNDING PUBLIC HEALTH FARMERS MARKETS: Councilmember Priscilla Tyson, chair of the Health and Human Services Committee is sponsoring ordinance 1433-2019 to authorize the establishment of a petty cash operating fund for the Columbus Public Health farmers' markets to be held this summer; to authorize a transfer within the operating fund; and to authorize the expenditure of $7,500.00 total at $2,500.00 per market, held at Columbus Public Health’s facility on July 25, August 1 and August 8.
• PLANNING FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE IN COLUMBUS: Councilmember Emmanuel V. Remy, chair Environment Committee is sponsoring ordinance 1220-2019 to enter into an agreement with Arup USA, Inc. for the development of the Sustainable Columbus Climate Action Plan, determining the next steps in ensuring Columbus is creating an environmentally sustainable future.
