Dude, I'm fine with the solution, so long as we acknowledge that this isn't a math problem anymore, it's a language problem.

shape
noun:

the external form, contours, or outline of someone or something.

A square ought to be a solution. The problem does NOT say: Draw a shape with 4 sides and ONLY 3 corners. A square has three corners... and one extra.

For those suggesting a square with one rounded corner - it no longer fits the definition for a shape with sides and corners.
Neither does the presented solution.

I can't accept that as a solution.
First off, it's already questionable to call a curve a "shape".
But to call a segment or edge a "side" is complete nonsense.

No, a "M" is *not* a "shape" with 4 "sides" and 3 "corners".

Or else, there are more people with 8 legs, than such with 2 legs. Because I could call spiders people. Redefining words can lead to any conclusion wanted.

these are not sides anymore if you break the polygon. just segments.

About your inspirational quote at the end, here's one I prefer: "The hardest thing of all is to find a black cat in a dark room, especially if there is no cat."

This is wrong on so many levels. What's a shape, what's a side, what's a corner, is it in 3d or 2d. Those things are all not clear

What about a triangle with a circle inside it that doesnt touch any of the three sides? That seems like a simpler solution

I'd argue that this shape has 5 corners. I'd probably be wrong, but I'd argue that

The way I thought of was making a semi-circle and drawing a triangle using the base of the semicircle - that way, you have two different lines connecting the same 2 corners

I will argue he created a shape with 8 sides and 3 corners, as I believe the inside counts as much as the outside when opened. My solution was to extend one side of a triangle beyond one corner, creating a shape looking like 4 (but don’t extend two lines, just one).

That’s not considered a shape it’s and open figure

Always consider Homer Simpson's hair to be the answer. 😂

Draw a triangle on a sphere (elliptical geometry).
You can now draw a 4th side between 2 corners.

those are corners, theres 5 corners on that shape

I'd argue that that shape has 5 corners, but that depends on how you define a corner

That was pretty cheap. Everyone would usually assume it has to be a closed shape.

Geometrically, there are open shapes, meaning 2 corners are not connected, like the solution provided.

I thought at the end I was going to get stickbugged

Breh..?
IF this was a *SHAPE* then it should prob be considered as a shape w 8 angles...
