I'm going to Tractor Supply to buy cattle panels for tomato cages. Since the panels come in 16' lengths I needed to know how to cut them in the parking lot so they'd fit into my truck. Your video answered that perfectly. Thanks so much!

Hello Leah I really enjoy your videos. I can probably shed some additional light on this matter as I am a concrete contractor and I put down 300, 000 at of wire mesh last year. 4 gauge is considered roadway mesh and its the toughest! You are 100% correct a 24” Long bolt cutters is the single nest way to cut!!!!

Perfect timing. I just got back from the barn where I was cutting cattle panels with an angle grinder running off my generator. With plenty of buckets of water around given that I was putting up fencing around the dry straw and hay. Neighbors have spotted a cougar around here, so I wanted to beef up the security around my goats and sheep.

Bolt cutters would have eliminated the fire risk and definitely wouldn't have freaked out the animals with all the noise & sparks!

Now its an older video, but thank you so much. 60 year old Gardner needing to cut some cattle panels for trellis. Much cheaper than paying someone 150 + to cut. Going to purchase right now

Very helpful, particularly with the ideas for home garden uses of cattle panels, so people without a farm background will find this useful.

Cutting that lock was cool! Reminder to get case hardened locks for anything important! I knew someone who used these to grow tomatoes and I think, climbing beans. If I had a big garden I'd be using cattle panels for sure. And using bolt cutters to cut them. Nice video!

The hardware store employee thought I would need to show ID but the manager didn’t ask. Pretty funny.

EXACTLY the operation i will be doing. cutting cattle panel!
Thanks so much. I just wanted an experienced opinion on what tool would do the job well.

i'd avoid the angle grinder as well -- it can (unless everything is secured in place) grab in the created kerf and break a joint in the panel.

Thank you! I have three 16' panels to trim for garden trellis and I've used an angle grinder before and it will get metal everywhere and isn't all that fast. It also leaves very sharp edges on the panels. Wasn't sure if bolt cutters would handle it but now I'm gonna go buy some.

Yes, bolt cutters are the best way, great advice, I had to use a large cold chisel with a 4lb hammer and an old tractor draw bar as a backstop when I was a teenager.

I've always called them "The Master Key", but yeah, if you're shopping for them in a store, bolt cutter is the commonly accepted terminology.
