AHF sword and buckler vs rapier and dagger sparring

A mixed weapon sparring bout. This was shot six months ago and has migrated from Nick's old personal channel to this new club channel.

Nick is using the rapier (Darkwood Armoury) and dagger, against Artur Sword (Regenyei) and buckler.

Honestly I thought the rapier/dagger combo would completely steamroll sword and buckler but the latter really did a great job.

What’s with the rapier tip pointing at the floor? I’ve seen it other places too but can’t find it in the treatises I’ve read. Maybe I’m missing something.

I think I've heard you guys say (or at least read other places) that the buckler is best for defense against cutting weapons and that the left-hand dagger is best for defense against thrusting weapons. If that's the case, then I wonder if it'd be a better combination here to use rapier and buckler versus sword & dagger? I know that's not the traditional pairing, but that would be a curious match between you two, and be a really interesting investigation...
