I have to admit, I wanted them to pick Brule. I didn't really even know who Price was and I wasn't at all thinking that Montreal was in need of a goalie. It's just a shame that they were drafting so poorly for so many years that Price never had a half decent team in front of him.

I wonder if Pierre McGuire ever apologized to Carey for his unprovoked very wrong rant about how this was such a bad pick by the Canadiens. I just googled it and he apologized for saying, "This is right off the reservation" because of Carey's native heritage, but he didn't seem to ever apologize about it being a bad pick.

i mean... he was right though, Price developed into a fantastic goalie but Montreal never had a team in front of him and they had plenty of solid goalies on the roster, Halak, Huet and Theodore, all who they ended up trading to make way for Price. If you do it over again, definitely wouldn't take Brule, but Kopitar? possibly wins them a cup with Halak in goal for the 2010s, no disrespect to Carey. The reservation comment was uncalled for.
