This is a top shelf conversion! Its one thing to convert an old beetle but a fully functioning E39 is another level!

I think probably purist are super mad about this conversion, but to me is absolutely amazing! More converted E39s means being able to see more of them on the road for the years to come! The E39 is in my top 2 favorite cars list and Im so happy people like them enough to attempt such great challenges! Well done sir! Please let us know about costs. I'd love to get one converted!

I have an E39. I really like that this conversion maintains the gears. Maybe in a few years when lighter batteries are available.

The DC drive directly replacing the motor output makes a lot of sense and seems it might allow for the car to maintain traction control, too. Very nice.

Awesome job just saw this... I own a 1999 E39 540i and this is intriguing. I also own a 2020 Tesla Mod 3. Have to locate your other videos on this project and price it out in Canada and the legalise of converting. Again nice job.
