I can just imagine the management structure for such a project. Probably half the fictional IT team quit out of frustration.

I.T consultant here. Once had a customer that would have still been a govt department if our government hadn't sold all our assets and privatised everything. They spent about $300, 000 on iPads for all their field staff, and another $400, 000 on getting software written to run on them. Only issue was they hired an Android developer instead of an iOS one. 5 years later and all the iPads were still sealed in their boxes 😂

Our Canadian government spent 54 million dollars on an app for people arriving back in Canada during the pandemic. It was to make the arrival more streamlined and quicker... It never worked well and crashed all the time.

To add insult to injury, a tech firm have their engineers a challenge over a weekend to make an app that actually worked. Not only did they accomplish this over 2 days and submitted many apps, but one engineer recreated the government app except it worked!

And here in New Zealand the Inland Revenue Department managed to spend a billion dollars on its latest computer system. That must have created a large number of consultants' palaces on paradisal foreign coastlines.

ooo I've seen those contracts, always like one dev, and 5 guys making slides. the dev will be making less than the guys making the slides, and 15 minutes from a nervous breakdown.

I like how he said that Smarter Gov Stopped crashing, but had again "the Multiple user issue" which is another way of saying that it crashes when too many people use it. Corporate lingo is the most useless thing humanity ever came up with.
