I love the walkable city. I will make my future generation live peacefully in that city.

Cities should be walkable and shouldn't be so congested with vehicles, though part of the blame goes to lack of parking, bad city planning, and forcing cars to stop at every intersection. My issue is when you say no cars, or when there are stairs everywhere. This excludes people with disabilities from enjoying and anyone who takes care of someone disabled. Carless cities also don't work well in colder climates.

"15 minute cities" already exist in alot of places. I live in Chicago and a lot of neighborhoods here are designed to where all your basic necessities can be found within your own neighborhood without needing to venture further than a 15-20 min walk. Unless you need to commute outside your area to go to work but grocery stores, parks, etc are all walking distance or a very short bus ride away.

Walkable Cities with mixed income housing to avoid redlined communities.
Cities need green spaces, public transportation, bike lanes separated from streets by tree lined islands.

This is genius I have been saying this for years we need to remember how to live not exist but to feel no stress should not be a hard thing to obtain I have so many great reasons for agreeing this would be amazing but this should be pushed more to all people not people with money and that’s a great thing ❤

Who would think that a city of any kind is a healthy form of living.

Speaking of walkable, consider that "neighborhood watch" used to be a common thing in cities but really I think it was a good excuse for people to be able to get out and enjoy their towns at night as humans used to, and be inspired by the night sky/creation. "First and second sleep" being a common practice in villages of olden times seems to be of greatness.

Guys the concept of 15 minute city's is as old as civilization.
Not a new idea by any stretch.
They were called " VILLAGES " .
The houses all shared common walls townhouse style. You had a village square with shops and butchers and commerce.
It worked quite well.
They didn't have parasites watching and recording them 24/7.
They had a homogeneous culture and an agreed upon set of values. That's why it worked, if you did some aberrant behavior you would he shamed and shunned without being able to yell
RACISM or DISCRIMINATION !!!
everyone knew each other and everyone towed the line to make it work.

Like Neom is advertised in Saudi Arabia, but is actually just an absolute dystopian nightmare.

“Smart cities” def is a better name for what they’re selling.
15-min kinda just implies everything’s close - that’s good. Even in my (small) hometown all the businesses were together… and you could walk there… it’d be like high school again… I want to keep my Camaro, tho

There should be more places for people to walk while the wide roads in certain spots like main st or blvds are drivable for both public and private transportation which are automobiles supposedly

Personally I think that more and more people should walk, it wouldn't just solve the fact that most of a township is compromised of space specifically calculated for cars and they're maneuvering around said township, making the town bloated in size compared to what it actually contains, but it would help combat the sedentary lifestyle a lot of us have. It's literally why I walk places. People don't understand how much cardio and basic exercise I get in the day just running most of my errands on foot.

But I won't completely rule out smart cities, they sound cool, adjacent option too a futurist megacity.. the only thing I'm really worried about is how most of the smart cities have some sort of heavy surveillance apparatus tacked onto it, besides the obvious places (places of extremely high crime installed by the city itself/private citizens installing them for their needs) why would every inch of the Smart City need to be covered in cameras? It already would be covered in sensor for most of its technologic needs

Smart cities could be valid if you just got the government sponsored talking point of "... yeah, let's ditch basic privacy"out of it.

I think England already kinda did this. Look at Newcastle, built before cars and designed to easily walk around in a short amount of time. Plus many roads are too small for cars and they're just walking areas instead. Very cool place to visit.

Build 1. Make a good sales pitch. build another one, once the previous one is filled.

Rinse wash repeat.
Eventually people will see how much better life in walkable cities are.
After which all major metropolises will start empty.
