Speaking as a retired US Air Force Airmen, the big difference in the American system is that
1. There are contracts of 4 or 6 years you can choose from. At the end of that contract about around 3 year mark and 5 year mark, the US military will ask you if you want to re-enlist for another 4 or 6 years or if you want to get out. This happens every time your contract is coming to an end. Totaling 20 years.
2. If you do choose to get out before 20 years, they provide free education, health benefits if you qualify for disability even if it’s 30%, and special loans for veterans.
3. If you choose to stay in you can continue working and renewing your contract for 20 years after which you can retire with full benefits.

So, an 18 year old can serve for 20 years and retire at the age of 38. If they choose to retire! Never does the us military just kick out 75% of their personnel.

However there is a caveat, you can always be kicked out for breaking the law (murder, theft, arson) Military law is different than civilian law. You can always be rejected for re-enlistment if you keep breaking smaller laws (showing bad behavior, not doing your job, not passing test required for your job, etc). But that amount never equates to 75% of people getting kick out or not retained.

The ridiculousness is exactly how you said it “India is trying to weaken its own military.”

As an Agniveer I want to share some point to the next generation who want to join as an Agniveer.
Our annual leave is only 30 days and there is no tt(traveling time )for us . I m from Manipur and I have posted in gujrat . So it takes 3 days to reach my home by train and total 6 days . If I take 15 days leave then I could stay only 8-9 days at home and annual 18 days I stay with my family. The point is 18 days leave is enough for a soldier who is equally doing all the things which are doing by a regular soldier . Because after getting 80 - 90 days leave, a regular sailor always used to say it's not enough. So you can see the difference between 18 days and 90 days annual leave. And you should also know about the salary. We don't have any allowances like Dareness allowance . We are also risking our life like a regular soldier then why don't we have DA . Is there is no value of our like . And it's a shame that we are not getting respect like a regular soldier in outside or inside the defence also . So I strongly demand to the govt to take back this scheme. It is not only good for the youth generation and also for our country .

Lets assume there 2 soldiers, A is permanent and B is agniveer and there is a operation going of confronting the terrorist or catching the smuggler, on whom would you have more confidence of catching the terrorist or smuggler. Also If soldier B knows that he is not going to be permanent then would he give his 100%.
In terms of corporate employee agniveer is a notice period employee, and you know how they work.

Thank you for taking up this issue Akash. It's a much needed topic. Shame on the central government for undermining the invaluable service rendered by our Agniveer Soldiers who sacrifice their lives for our country. Really shameful.

BJP govt said that the army jawans are too old so they want to reduce the average age of the soldires. But inspite of their age haven't our soldiers won enough wars for us already and proven their capabilities? Why does the BJP govt cast doubt on their capabilities?

Agniveer scheme is not the result of extensive research. Rather, it is one of the master stroke like notebandi.
If Government is serious about reducing expenditure towards pension to employees, first they should stop pension to elected politicians.

The main issue with agniveer is that coordination between the members of a regiment is vital for army performance

But if the new joiness know that only one out of 4 will progress this will be internal strife between army trainees
