10 Funny Australian Commercials

I put together 10 funny Australian ads, trying to use only those made in Australia by Australian agencies for Australian companies for the Australian market. There are just a few and very small exceptions when it comes to the agency or the market, but the adverts are all Australian. I hope you enjoy them. 6. Old Spice Australia & New Zealand, "Australian Man" with Isaiah Mustafa from 2013 for Procter & Gamble Australia & New Zealand by Hausmann Communications and the Jungleboys The Van Vuuren Bros

7. Commbank, "Concierge" from 2013 by M&C Saatchi Australia

8. Visa Australia, "Money You Can't Loose" from 2015 by Clemenger BBDO Sydney

9. XXXX, "Life’s good when you give a XXXX" from 2024

10. Australian Tourism, "Shrimp on the barbie" with Paul Hogan from 1984 by MOJO - the line "I'll slip an extra shrimp on the barbie for you" became a catchphase associated with Australia when in fact Aussies say "prawn" and the ad used the expression "shrimp" only for the US market

11. Toyota Hilux, "Bugger" from 1999, actually a New Zealand ad that is often mistaken for an Australian one, by Saatchi & Saatchi Wellington (writer John Plimmer and Howard Grieve, director Tony Williams, art director John Fisher) - the Advertising Standards Authority received a record 120 complaints about the commercial but the board ruled it was distinctly New Zealand and relevant to rural humour

11. Toyota Hilux, "Bugger" from 2002, the second commercial in the series inlcuding the dog

12. Vegemite, "Happy little Vegemites", the iconic commercial in an update version from 2011 that includes the famous jingle from 1953 by JWT

My Dad spent some time in Australia after the Battle of the Coral Sea in WWII. He fell in love with it and said there was only one place that was better...and that was HOME. Thanks for taking care of my Pappy Australia, he never forgot you.

I lived good times in Australia and New Zealand. I remember these Ads and brought some old memories back with tears. Love and peace ❤❤❤

Anything with Hoggie in it for me! I first saw him while living in England with his comedy sketches on TV. And standing up to deliver his Academy Award speech was priceless! Love Aussie movies.

Fortunate to have visited this beautiful land of Oz three times. People were friendly, scenery remarkable, food was terrific ( Morton Bay bugs to everything lamb 😉). Best trips ever!!

Kiwi here. I’ve just about lived on Vegemite. Cheese & Vegemite sandwiches!!!! The Bugger ads were classic too!

Haaa haaa, forgot about saying that Dundee actor (1 st film) Louis Guzman lives just down the road from us here in Burke, Vermont, USA. He's come along wasy since then, major movies (Traffic, Count of Monte Cristo, etc.) and dozens more. Big advocate for preserving nature and our landscape, super generous cat.
