Can we address that Megamind's plan was actually smart? He knew that Roxanne would be able to identify the observatory from the inside, and so he made a perfect replica to trick both her AND Metroman into his trap. Were the death ray not 'warming up', he may have ACTUALLY killed Metroman, which to me is one of many early signs that Megamind always preferred the game between them and was never truly trying his hardest to win.

At 6:11 you can see a hidden detail where Metroman flashes away and appears behind Megamind for a microsecond becuase he's moving super fast like he said later in the film when he leaves to clear his head using his super speed.

Fun fact: Bruce Campbell was considered to voiced Metro Man before Brad Pitt got the role. However, the producers based Metro Man from Bruce Campbell. His costume and showmanship are purposely evocative of Elvis Presley.

Remember folks, if an individual that had this superpower actually did this, this would imply that they traveled near the speed of light all around the city. That would mean all the air particles that he touches would be accelerated to near the speed of light, anything he grabs and attempts to move would almost be nearly converted into Pure Energy as the impact of his indestructible body striking that object that near the speed of light would be an unimaginable amount of energy. Essentially, he would have obliterated the entire state. All of the air he walks through would be converted into pure plasma and would expand outwards like a nuke, the kite that he grabs, the skeleton that he grabs, it would all convert into energy and explode as well as he tries to accelerate it to near the speed of light unless than a millions of a second.

It would have been the city there one second and the next pure light.

In reality this is why speedsters are so dangerous when it comes to the whole hero aspect, if they are capable of moving at such speeds it would imply that they are capable of having reaction times that no other individual could beat. No matter how much you throw at them they could Dodge it, unless it's a high-powered laser but even then you would have to try to catch them off guard because if they see you pulling that trigger in they'll move out of the way and kill you before you're done moving the trigger. With the act of doing that they would also kill and destroy everything around you, the only time they would really be able to speed up to such speeds is when there isn't any civilian infrastructure around. Unless they keep the speed to a minimum because even breaking the sound barrier right beside someone else would blow out their eardrums
