Unions are going away, I worked as a LIUNA member for 11 years. I left to go to the gas company I worked as a contractor for during my time as union member. Day 1 at my new job I had better pay, better retirement, better health insurance.

Unions haven't worked out well for employees in my experience, at least the ones I've seen in food manufacturing. We're talking forced 12+ hour days for 3 weeks straight before you're granted 24 hours off. Expensive benefits. And working 3 years before you have enough senority for a vacation. I switched to an American auto manufacturer that is not a union facility and we have 40 hr weeks. Free benefits. Stock options. Employee discounts and substantion vacation time available immediately.
